Safe Return to Sport
The Amateur Athletic Union was proud to be able to offer a safe return to sports this past year —
hosting more than 25 national championship events across the country – only where and when it was deemed safe to do so.
We are proud to have been one of the few – if not only – organizations to have hosted national events in 2020. Working with local & state officials along with health professionals, the AAU took a diligent and measured approach in hosting events that implemented extensive safety protocols as well as adhering to comprehensive social distancing guidelines.
These events included the AAU Junior National Volleyball Championships, the longest continuously run volleyball national championship, the AAU Basketball World Championships, and the 54th AAU Junior Olympic Games along with Diving, Futsal, and Hockey national championships.
We look forward to building on this safety-first approach in the years to come to continue to provide quality participation opportunities to amateur athletes throughout the United States and beyond.
